Introducing Zeke Benoit, aka Jake Peralta (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)
Previously, he was Jake Peralta, from the show Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Raised by a single mother and more or less abandoned by his dirtbag father, Jake, the biggest Die Hard fan in the world, always wanted to be a cop. When he started working at the Nine-Nine, he found a job for his childhood friend Gina as the Captain's assistant. He made it through the detective track and developed a friendly rivalry with another ambitious detective, Amy Santiago. Naturally, they're married now. Jake is a diligent and gung-ho detective who has been through a lot in his time at work: going undercover, being imprisoned, having to enter the Witness Protection program. But he has continued to grow from an arrogant, charming dirtbag into a charming, decent human. His captain is like a dad to him. And yes he will tell you that.
Now he's Zeke Benoit, 29. Zeke and his older sister Mariah were born less than a year apart. It made for an interesting dynamic where they were simultaneously older sister/younger brother and twins, and so they succeeded in driving their parents nuts in a multitude of ways. Also each other, obviously. They were in the same year in school, and they alternated between being super close and the best of friends to wanting nothing to do with each other, and god forbid anyone trying to guess which it was going to be from one year to the next. But even when they were on the outs, Zeke would totally go after anyone who tried to mess with Mariah, even if he got his ass handed to him. She'd do the same for him, after all (probably with less ass-getting-kicked on her part, honestly).
He went to college and then medical school, a fact that surprised a lot of people--he's not exactly a genius, or the most school-loving person around--but not his family. His family knew he'd watched Diagnosis Murder with his mom (probably starting when he was way too young) all the time growing up, and something had clicked. He liked Dick Van Dyke's funny charm and he liked solving puzzles, and okay, he knew when he was a doctor he wasn't likely to be solving any murders, especially after he decided he liked people too much to go into forensic pathology and only deal with dead ones, but the challenge was there. Zeke is currently a resident in internal medicine at a pretty well-respected hospital, and he wants to eventually focus on diagnostics. You know, like House. Except without being a total ass who pushes away everyone he loves and is addicted to painkillers. Zeke is pretty sure his boyfriend would dump him and kick him out for that, and he really likes their cozy life together, even if he spends way too much time at the hospital.
Zeke is currently unaware.
